Alessandro (Alex) Fortunato Gaudino - is an Italian DJ who was born in Salerno, Italy, whose music generally fits into the genre of Italo.
In 2007, Gaudino released the hugely popular track Destination Calabria. The mashup contains the catchy[neutrality is disputed] saxophone sound from the 2003 track Calabria, originally made by Danish DJ Rune RK, also known as Artificial Funk; the vocals from Crystal Waters' 2004 track "Destination Unknown".
Alex Gaudino is also well-known for being a member of the trio Lil' Love.
In 1993, Alex Gaudino began his music biz career working for Flying Records and UMM.
In 1998, with the support of the well-known Italian record company TIME, Alex founded his own label, RISE Records, which quickly produced a string of hit records by artists such as The Tamperer, Black Legend and Robbie Rivera's "Bang", which earned him a nomination for Best European A&R at the 2000 European Music Awards, held in London. Alex is the only Italian A&R man with two UK No.1 hit singles in his locker.
He produced two singles in 2003 with Crystal Waters and one with Ultra Nat. "Destination Unknown" was played by all the key DJs, including Pete Tong and Judge Jules, and reached the top of the UK Buzz charts.
You can hear Alex's influence with Supacupa and Sambatucada (Gaudino da Costa) and in his remix of "Is it Cos I'm Cool" by Mousse T which left its indelible mark on the summer of 2004.
In 2005, Lil' Love's "Little Love" was exclusively played by Pete Tong at Nikki Beach in Miami during WMC 2005. The record was released on Positiva in the UK and reached the top of the club charts. In 2006, Alex remixed for Pete Tong & Chris Cox (Deep End), Mousse T (Horny) and James Kakande (You You You). The Ministry of Sound label released his single "Reaction", and "Head over Heels", by his project Blue Lipstick, was released on Hed Kandi.
But the real gear-change came with "Destination Calabria", an artful splicing of a Crystal Waters' vocal with Rune's "Calabria". The track went on to dominate the UK and European singles charts, subsequently launching Alex's career as an international DJ.
In October 2010 Gaudino scored his first number one single in the United States, as "I'm In Love (I Wanna Do It)" reached the top spot on Billboard's Hot Dance Airplay chart.
In 2008, he confirmed in an interview for Fresh 40 in the UK that his new album was to be called "My Destination".
